“What’s the Weather” and “Pinecones with a Purpose”
“What’s the Weather”- Tuesday, January 7th
Wet, windy or cold. Hot, stormy or dry. Find out the basics on weather and how the weather influences the what, when, and how plants grow on farms and in backyards in New Jersey. On Tuesday, January 7th children ages 3 to 5 years old can visit Macculloch Hall Historical Museum to take the garden’s temperature and see how nature prepares itself for winter weather. After a story and short walk in the garden, children will paint a cloud picture to take home.
“Pinecones with a Purpose” – Tuesday, January 21st
Pinecones come in all shapes and sizes, but what is their purpose? Children ages 3 to 5 years old with their caregivers are invited to investigate pinecones at the Museum on Tuesday, January 21st and discover the “inside story” behind pinecones from the very smallest to the largest. During the program, children will find the evergreen trees growing in Macculloch Hall’s garden and make a pinecone picture frame for their family.
Growing in the Garden is a year-round program meeting twice a month at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum. The program is for children ages 3 to 5 years old accompanied by their caregivers. There is a morning session from 10:15 – 11am and an afternoon session from 1:15 – 2pm. The cost is $12/pair for child and caregiver (Members: $8/pair)Preregistration is required, please call (973) 538-2404 ext. 16 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Macculloch Hall Historical Museum preserves the history of the Macculloch-Miller families, the Morris area community, and the legacy of its founder W. Parsons Todd through its historic site, collections, exhibits, and educational and cultural programs. The Museum is open for house and exhibit tours on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. The last tour leaves at 3pm. Adults $8; Seniors & Students $6; Children 6 – 12 $4. Members and children under 5 are free. The gardens at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum are open Monday to Friday 9am – 4pm and Sundays 1pm – 4pm unless posted otherwise.
