BUDD LAKE (March 4, 2014) – Get out your shillelagh and pin some shamrocks to your coat when you head over to St. Jude’s Church in Budd Lake for its annual Irish soda bread sale being held after all Masses the weekend of March 15 and 16.
The ladies of the parish’s Rosary Altar Society will host the fundraiser and offer for sale an assortment of homemade and festively decorated breads, biscuits, scones, muffins and mini breads. What a wonderful addition to your corned beef and cabbage dinner on St. Patrick’s Day.
“Members of our Rosary Society do such a fabulous job in their baking. It always amazes me,” said Mel Kaufhold, president. “And it’s so awesome to see all the team work involved when it comes time to sell all our goodies.”
St. Jude’s is located at 17 North Mt. Olive Road and Masses are celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Saturday; 8, 9:30, 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m on Sunday.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Rosary Society at St. Jude’s and the yearlong commemoration will culminate on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014 with an anniversary Mass celebrated by Bishop Arthur Serratelli followed by a parish luncheon at La Strada’s in Randolph.
The organization brings together women age 18 and over in prayer, friendship and community service, guided by the love of and devotion to Mary the mother of Jesus, through the Holy Rosary. It meets the first Monday of each month except January, July and August and all women are welcome.
