Abilities of Northwest Jersey, Inc. is the recipient of $7,500 from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for the purchase of Smart Tables for the agency’s Medical Specialized Needs (MSN) population.
Applications for Smart Tables, which accommodate four individuals in wheelchairs simultaneously, include those to facilitate communication, learning and prevocational skills. Use of such devices also improves physical dexterity and creates opportunities for group activities and peer interaction, helping to make Abilities’ MSN a stimulating resource for individuals with limited mobility. Smart Tables are manufactured by Teq, a New York-based company specializing in instructional technology.
“It is with deep appreciation that we share this news of the Reeve Foundations’ generous contribution to expand the use of assistive technology in our MSN program,” said Abilities CEO Cynthia B. Wildermuth. “Their support will change the lives of those we serve with mobility impairments. We are grateful and hope this is the beginning of a rewarding collaboration with the Foundation”
