At Retro Fitness in Florham Park, members can appreciate affordability, cleanliness, new classes and equipment and a welcoming environment.

Opened since March 2014, Retro Fitness of Florham Park is part of the Retro Fitness brand established in 2004, a New Jersey based company known for introducing large scale fitness centers with affordable membership prices to markets that previously only offered more expensive alternatives. The company was founded by entrepreneur Eric Casaburi and has evolved from a regional Northeast gym concept into a national franchise system with more than 145 gyms in operation across 16 states.

“It’s been exciting to be part of the brand’s growth as a franchise owner,” says Teresa Intravaia, co-owner of Retro Fitness in Hanover.

“We opened Retro Fitness to provide the community a comprehensive facility that will help them achieve their health and fitness goals at an affordable price,” says Intravaia. “Retro Fitness allows us to do this without skimping out on the necessities for a good workout. We offer a clean and welcoming environment for every member to achieve success without feeling intimidated or overwhelmed—no matter their fitness level.”

The 12,740 square-foot facility “blends vibrant color schemes into a fun, energetic atmosphere where gym members can comfortably meet their fitness goals,” describes Intravaia. “We’re equipped with 80 -100 pieces of top-of-the-line circuit and weight training equipment, as well as cardio machines with personal flat-screen TVs and smartphone hookups.”

A variety of live classes are offered such as Spin, Zumba, Pound, Plyoga and Barre. Members can also work up a sweat in “our popular cardio movie theater that houses a variety of cardio equipment instead of seats and plays movies on a large screen throughout the day.”

Additional member amenities include one-on-one personal training, full-service locker rooms, a supervised children’s playroom, the latest in tanning technology, a full-service pro-shop and a Retro Blends smoothie bar – “all housed within a high-energy, social atmosphere.”

Retro Fitness also has a Health and Wellness Center equipped with a licensed chiropractor, massage therapist and acupuncture. Every member that signs up gets a free therapeutic massage and free consultation.

“We really do provide a first-class experience with top of the line amenities at an affordable price,” says Intravaia. “We genuinely care about our members and their health and fitness goals and work tirelessly to help them realize their true potential.”

Joining Retro Fitness is a welcoming experience.

“People should consider Retro Fitness if they want to be a part of a community,” says Intravaia. “At Retro Fitness we’re very much a family, and we help keep members accountable and motivate them to reach their fitness goals. Our entire staff is very friendly and always makes sure to say hello to everyone. Our personal trainers and instructors are extremely knowledgeable and often will speak up if they see a member lifting incorrectly and will advise how to correct his or her form to avoid putting extra harm on their body. Our members know that if they have a question or concern that we’re here for them. Anything we can do that is going to help them reach their fitness goals in a safe and effective manner we do.”

Members who join can take advantage of special rates throughout the calendar year.

“Whether its $0 enrollment or other discounted rates, the gym keeps it fresh and as enticing as possible for those looking to join a gym that cares,” she says.

There are no qualifications to join other than paying the monthly membership fee.

Besides offering a quality facility, Retro Fitness makes it a point to give back to the community.

“We’ve always been very community focused and enjoy getting involved and giving back as much as we can,” says Intravaia. “We’re currently in the planning the stages of our next fundraising event to raise money for cancer research with Relay for Life. In the past we’ve hosted Zumba, Pound, Plyoga and Insanity classes for Relay for Life, Partners In Caring and Making Strides against Breast Cancer, to name a few fund raisers that we, collectively with our staff, have been proud to be a part of.

“We also frequently host customer appreciations days where we invite health and wellness vendors to give away some free items, bring in a DJ and hand out healthy food and drinks,” she adds.

Other bonuses are visits from dietarians and nutritionists who share their tips and educate our members with best practices to achieve a healthy and active lifestyle.

Soon members will be able to use brand new fitness equipment such as rowers, additional squat rack and stair climbers as well as new, Barre and Cycle Fusion classes.

Retro Fitness is open Mon.-Fri., from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sat., 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sun., 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Membership rates start at just $19.99 a month. People interested in signing up are encouraged to visit the Florham Park location to see what Retro Fitness has to offer.

“We welcome all employees of our local area to check out our special corporate programs as well,” she concludes.
