Award Winning Columnist To Speak At Madison Rotary

The public and area Rotarians are invited to a Sept. 15 lecture being given by Mark Di Ionno, award-winning columnist with the “Star Ledger.” The topic to be discussed is “The Trend and Future of Journalism”.
Di Ionno has been an editor and reporter for more than 30 years. He was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism in 2013 for his coverage of Superstorm Sandy as well as the death of NJ college student Tyler Clementi. He has won numerous other awards and recognition for his work.
Ionna is the author of three New Jersey historical books as well as a novel, “The Last Newspaper Man.” He is a graduate of Rutgers University and a former sports writer for the “New York Post.” His military background includes The U.S. Navy Hospital Corps. He is the father of six children.
The lecture will take place at the weekly Madison Rotary meeting at Rod’s Steakhouse and Grill in Convent Station at noon. The cost is $15 which will include a three-course lunch. Reservations are highly recommended. Please contact Carmela Moeller at carmoeller@aol.com.
The Madison Rotary Club recently distributed $43,000 in grants and scholarships. Currently in the planning stage is its Second Annual “End Hunger 3.6” project. Last year’s project resulted in packaging 52,000 meals, distributed to NJ/NYC hunger-related organizations such as the NJ Salvation Army and the Bowery Mission in NYC. Rotary’s motto is “service above self.”
