On June 14, Lisa Arata of The Friends of the Montclair Township Animal Shelter, FOMTAS, addressed the Rotary Club of the Caldwells at its regular meeting held at the Cloverleaf Tavern. Discussing the recreant fire, Arata said all animals were evacuated and sent out for fostering at residents’ homes. They are looking to find permanent homes for some of animals.
The shelter is taking monetary donations, food, and of course looking for permanent homes for animals. FOMTAS has also started an on line fundraiser to cover short-term repairs that can get animals and staff back into its building and then a more extensive remodeling of the aged building. The campaign’s goal is $225,000. FOMTAS is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation so all donations are tax deductible.
The Caldwell club presented a check for $5,000 to help them rebuild.
