Abilities of Northwest Jersey Inc. is pleased to announce the receipt of $5,000 from Cathay Bank Foundation. The received funding will be utilized to purchase state-of-the-art sensory equipment for the organization’s sensory room program.
Cathay Bank Foundation has been a significant supporter of the organization, funding multiple new program initiatives including Abilities’ STAR program in 2017 and PossAbilities Thrift Boutique in 2018. Cathay Bank Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process to create opportunities to enhance the growth and success of communities in which the Bank serves.

Abilities first created its sensory program in 2018 as a means for creating therapeutic activities for individuals with disabilities. The organizations’ sensory rooms are designed to be a place where individuals can go to explore and develop sensory skills while learning coping and relaxation techniques. Abilities currently has state-of-the-art sensory rooms at several program locations, benefitting over 100 individuals daily.
Abilities of Northwest Jersey is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the employability and quality of life for people with different abilities by providing training and individualized services. Incorporated in 1974, Abilities works diligently to create an inclusive community where individuals with different abilities are given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential in life.
