Hackettstown, N.J., May 9, 2024— Centenary University and Ideal Institute of Technology are pleased to announce the launch of a new teaching site in South Jersey, marking a pioneering partnership between higher education and vocational school. To celebrate the launch of Centenary University at Ideal Institute of Technology, community stakeholders will attend the inauguration luncheon. Media and invited guests will celebrate and learn more about the program offered by the University and Ideal Institute of Technology as they embark on this exciting journey to redefine education and empower residents of South Jersey to embrace a new era of learning and opportunity.

What: Inauguration Luncheon

Date: May 22, 2024

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Location: Ideal Institute of Technology, 1000 West Washington Ave., Pleasantville NJ 08232

“This collaboration is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state of New Jersey and the inaugural partnership between a private university and an adult vocational school,” said President Dale Caldwell, Ed.D. “College is for everyone. With this partnership we are making higher education accessible to students who may otherwise not have pursued a degree — and also helping students earn a real income while they complete their studies.”

For the initiative’s pilot phase, students will have the opportunity to enroll in one of three undergraduate degree programs: business, computer science, and “new media” (communication, radio, and TV production). When students enroll at Centenary’s South Jersey location, they will have the ability to earn and learn at the same time. For example, students enrolled in the business program can conduct their studies and set up their e-commerce business. Or, if they are enrolled in the computer science program, they can begin to work at an IT company.

Students will be earning credits from a university and vocational school as well as income. Ideal Institute of Technology is the only career college in the country that pays students to attend school because their program is work-based learning within a social enterprise.

“This is a very unique positioning for Centenary University,” said Ren Parikh, Founder and Director of Ideal Institute of Technology. “I give credit to President Caldwell for his out-of-the-box thinking that no student should be turned down from experiencing college. This partnership provides an opportunity for all those students who think or were told that college is not for them.”
