Date: May 22, 2024

“This collaboration is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state of New Jersey and the inaugural partnership between a private university and an adult vocational school,” said President Dale Caldwell, Ed.D. “College is for everyone. With this partnership we are making higher education accessible to students who may otherwise not have pursued a degree — and also helping students earn a real income while they complete their studies.”

For the initiative’s pilot phase, students will have the opportunity to enroll in one of three undergraduate degree programs: business, computer science, and “new media” (communication, radio, and TV production). When students enroll at Centenary’s South Jersey location, they will have the ability to earn and learn at the same time. For example, students enrolled in the business program can conduct their studies and set up their e-commerce business. Or, if they are enrolled in the computer science program, they can begin to work at an IT company.

Students will be earning credits from a university and vocational school as well as income. Ideal Institute of Technology is the only career college in the country that pays students to attend school because their program is work-based learning within a social enterprise.

“This is a very unique positioning for Centenary University,” said Ren Parikh, Founder and Director of Ideal Institute of Technology. “I give credit to President Caldwell for his out-of-the-box thinking that no student should be turned down from experiencing college. This partnership provides an opportunity for all those students who think or were told that college is not for them.”

Centenary University offers extraordinary learning opportunities that empower students to develop intellectually, emotionally, and interculturally—keys to career and personal success.

Under the leadership of President Dale Caldwell, Ed.D., the University aspires to advance its reputation as a world class institution offering innovative programs, including the world’s first Master of Arts in Happiness Studies, to lift the future for our students and local communities.
