The Woodland Park Borough Council recently awarded a contract to AA Berms, LLC of Belleville for the McBride Avenue Streetscape Project Phase 7. This phase will be from Dowling Parkway to Whippany Avenue. Officials are hopeful work will be underway this fall. Phases 5 and 6 began on June 25 and are nearly complete. These phases connect Newby Avenue to Dowling Parkway.
The streetscape project began in March 2017 and when complete, improvements will have been made all along the entire stretch of road in town. Work has been completely funded through a series of State and County grants.
The goal of the streetscape project is to make the thoroughfare safer, smoother, more business friendly, pedestrian friendly. Improvements include Americans With Disabilities Act compliant barrier-free curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, decorative brick pavers, decorative lighting, new street signs, new driveway aprons, trash and recycling receptacles and planters.
