Dietician’s Program To Enlighten At Lioness Meeting

The Chester Lioness Club will meet for dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 in the Lamplighter Restaurant, Chester.
Brittany Peterson, a registered dietitian from the Village Supermarket, Inc. and currently employed in the Shop Rite of Chester will present the evening’s program:  “Understanding the
Nutrition Facts Label.”
She will include the FDA nutrition facts label and other label claims on packaged goods to help members interpret food labels to make smarter shopping choices.  Members will also be invited to attend a supermarket tour to identify some “hidden gems” and “superfoods.”
Peterson grew up in New Providence, and decided she wanted to be a dietitian when she was in middle school and saw the movie, “Super Size Me.” She completed her B.S. degree in Nutrition at Syracuse University and went on to complete her M.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown,  where she received the Outstanding
Graduate Student in Nutrition Academic Honor. She enjoys cooking and baking during her free time and has developed recipes for Food and Nutrition Magazine, published by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
As a retail dietitian for ShopRite of Chester, Brittany provides complimentary nutrition services to customers and the surrounding communities.  This includes nutrition counseling, health screenings and advice, menu ideas and recipe makeovers, cooking demos and food tastings, kids healthy eating events, personal and group tours and community health and wellness programs.
