Hopatcong’s Hudson Maxim School kindergarten students recently participated in a collaborative STEAM egg drop challenge.
The young students at the Hopatcong school worked in groups of four to construct a container that would catch a hard-boiled egg without it cracking. Each group had to collectively plan out a design, select a container and materials, and then construct it. Students practiced sharing and listening to ideas while working as a team. After the allotted time to build, it was time to test out their egg-catching device.
After the eggs were all dropped, students discussed changes they could make to their container if it didn’t catch the egg.
