Explore The Solar System At The Library

On Tues., July 26, the Washington Township Public Library plans to offer “Our Magnetic Sun: Solar Observation.” Local astronomer Ranger Bob will lead participants on a solar exploration in this combined lecture and observation. Program will begin in the library meeting room for a brief presentation before moving outside into Rock Spring Park to apply what was learned by observing the sun through a telescope. The event is open to all ages, and attendants are welcome to bring along a picnic dinner to make an evening out of it.

The program is offered as part of the library’s Adult Summer Reading Club, which is currently in full swing. The club offers town residents a chance to read books, attend programs, and complete puzzles, with each activity counting as an entry into weekly and grand-prize drawings. This year’s prizes include water bottles, tote-bags, gift certificates, and a grand-prize Fitbit Flex. Those who have not yet registered for the Adult Summer Reading Club are still welcome to sign up.

Our Magnetic Sun: Solar Observation” starts at 5 p.m. on Tues., July 26 and is free and open to the public. Rain-dates are Aug. 11 and 22. To register, visit wtpl.org or call the library at 908-876-3596.
