Free HWS concert 6/28 in Whippany

‘A Patriotic Tableau’


Hanover Wind Symphony tuba players (from left) Phil Hughes of Whippany, Rob Ruth of Kinnelon, and Joe Melody of Randolph prepare for “A Patriotic Tableau,” a free summer concert being performed by the community-based wind band on Wednesday, June 28 at Memorial Junior School, 61 Highland Ave., in Whippany. Says HWS music director and conductor Matthew Paterno of Parsippany, “Is there any better way to pay tribute to our great country than through the music that helped to build it! From folk tunes to jazz and from Broadway to the Amber Waves of Grain, this concert with leave both the musicians and the audience feeling proud and patriotic!”


Among the pieces being performed at the two summer concerts are the following: America the Beautiful, The Troopers’ Tribunal, The Federal, American Flourish, Gershwin!, Satchmo!, Armed Forces Salute, Stars and Stripes Forever, Big Band Spectacular, This Is My Country, Star-Spangled Salute, and Amber Waves of Grain.
