The Hopatcong Environmental Commission will be conducting distribution of free tree seedlings on Sat. May 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Borough Hall parking lot.
The trees are bare root seedlings ranging in size from 2ft to 7ft in height, depending upon variety. The trees are being provided through the NJ Tree Recovery program which started after Superstorm Sandy. The goal is to distribute 500,000 trees over a five-year period to replace trees destroyed by various major storms. This is the final year of distribution. For more information call 973-770-0461. Please note that trees should be planted within 2-3 days of pickup.
