The Hopatcong Women’s Club plans to hold its first meeting and luncheon of the fall season on Wed., Sept. 21, at The Black River Barn in Randolph. The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. with lunch at 12:30 p.m. All local women are welcome however reservations must be made in advance and a check made out to Hopatcong Woman’s Club for $27 will need to be sent to Diane Ottman. Food pantry items are always in need, and HWC has collection bins throughout the town for non-perishable donation. Current collection sites include: The Hopatcong Post Office, Borough Hall, Skylands Medical Group, The Medicine Shoppe, and Santander Bank. No glass accepted. The group looks forward to providing for those in need throughout 2016 by way of the West Side Methodist Church.
The Hopatcong Woman’s Club is very active in the community, Highlands District and the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs. Some current interests that the group supports include items needed, or financially assist with include: NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), Douglass College, Scholarships for two high school seniors and one adult woman returning for further education, the Interfaith Food Bank, Head Start, IS Servicemen and women serving in Afghanistan, US Veterans, DASI (Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention) and many community groups and activities.
Join in on the third Wednesday of each month from October through April, typically at the Hopatcong Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. September and May events are usually held at local restaurants with reservations required by calling Member Chair Selma Reichert at 973-770- 4989.
