Hunt For Treasure At The Library

On Sat., July 16, the Washington Township Public Library is pleased to offer “Geocaching 101.” Join Stephan Szardenings of Northern New Jersey Cachers for an introduction to geocaching, a modern-day take on treasure hunting. Bring along a GPS-R or smartphone if you have one (not required), and learn how to use these devices to find the millions of geocaches hidden around the world. After the program, consider joining Stephan on nearby Patriot’s Path to apply what you’ve learned to track down some of the caches located in Long Valley.

The program is offered as part of the library’s Adult Summer Reading Club, which is currently in full swing. The club offers town residents a chance to read books, attend programs, and complete puzzles, with each activity counting as an entry into weekly and grand-prize drawings. This year’s prizes include t-shirts, water bottles, tote-bags, gift certificates, and a grand-prize Fitbit Flex. Those who have not yet registered for the Adult Summer Reading Club are still welcome to sign up.

“Geocaching 101” starts at 11 a.m. on Sat., July 16 and is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome to attend. To register, visit wtpl.org or call the library at 908-876-3596.
