Beginning Sept. 4, the Whippanong Library will celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month.
When registering for a library card, each person can choose a book or DVD to keep from a basket at the circulation desk.  Each new registrant can also complete an entry form for a $25 gift card drawing.  During Library Card Sign-Up Month, those who have lost their cards can register for a free replacement card and also enter the drawing.
Library Card Sign-up Month ends Saturday, Sept. 29. The gift card drawing will be Monday, Oct. 1. The winner doesn't have to be present.
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up Month has been held each September. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child — and adult — signs up for their own library card.
