Large Crowd Celebrates Randolph Education ‘Rock Stars’

With more than 200 attendees, the ninth annual Randolph “Rock Stars” Celebration was another successful event for the Randolph Education Foundation.
Co-hosted by the REF and the Randolph Rotary Club on June 14, the evening honored 10 of Randolph Township’s education stars: Michael Lonie, Randolph High School; Robert Chernow, Randolph Middle School; Beata Darbig, Center Grove Elementary School; Michele Savvides, Fernbrook Elementary School; Linda Andrews, Ironia Elementary School; Lisa Kruse-Marcus, Shongum Elementary School; Anne Standridge, Randolph Township Community Volunteer of the Year; Roy Claps, Randolph Township Rotarian of the Year; Lore Reinhart, Randolph Township Business Person of the Year, and Sofia Zingone, Randolph Township Student Volunteer of the Year.
Hosted in the Randolph High School Commons, a dinner buffet was provided by The Randolph Diner and live music entertained the record number of guests who came out to congratulate the Randolph Township School District Educators of the Year and leaders in the Randolph community.
In addition, attendees had the opportunity to support the REF’s initiatives by purchasing “Star Cards” to honor teachers or staff members. John Herold Jewelers donated a custom diamond and sapphire “rockstar” necklace for an additional raffle that raised funds for the REF’s efforts.
This past year, the REF awarded more than $25,000 to students and teachers in the Randolph Township school district.
The Randolph Rock Stars are a testament to the community, said Randolph Rock Stars Event Co-Chairs Monica O’Meara and Liz Olechowski, who were very pleased with the outcome of the
celebration.
