Mel Jacobs honored at Temple Beth Shalom Gala

Temple Beth Shalom (TBS) of Livingston honored Mel Jacobs at its annual Gala on Sunday, March 10 at The Crystal Plaza in Livingston. Mel will complete a two-year term as synagogue president in June 2019.
The evening included moving tributes from friends and well-wishers throughout the evening and as part of the virtual journal which supported the event. The evening also included a Silent Auction as an exciting component, contributing to the overall success of this annual fundraiser.
Mel and his wife, Linda, joined TBS more than 30 years ago and immediately became active in synagogue life. Prior to assuming the presidency, Mel served as a vice president and member of the TBS Board of Trustees. Mel has co-chaired previous Annual Galas with Linda, serving as the unofficial “Temple biographer” by crafting moving written tributes for past honorees. Mel has also served on numerous TBS committees and in the High Holy Day lay choir.
Mel has also been a very involved participant in community activities outside of TBS. He served as the Lawyers Chair and Commerce and Professionals Co-Chair for Super Sunday events of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest. He has also chaired many Israel Bonds and has been honored with Linda by Israel Bonds in recent years.
Mel and Linda’s family extends to their daughters, Phyllis and Mariel, Mariel’s husband, Eric, and their granddog, Milo.
