Met Opera Comes To Florham Park Sept. 23

Opera at Florham brings the Met Opera to Florham Park with its season opener, “September Song” at Lenfell Hall, The Mansion, Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison on Sunday Sept. 23 at 2 p.m.

“September Song: Afternoon at the Met & Evening on Broadway,” includes selections from the new season at the Metropolitan Opera, including arias from “La Boheme,” “Don Giovanni,” “Die Zauberflöte,”and “Tosca.”

Singers are soprano Meryl Dominguez, bass-baritone Eric Delagrange, and tenor Matthew White, all resident artists at Academy Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, Pa. In addition to selections from the operas, pieces from the American Songbook that were inspired by the operas performed will be sung as well. Light refreshments will be served at intermission.

The venue, Lenfell Hall (located in Hennessy Hall), was the drawing room of the Vanderbilt-Twombly family’s beautiful, historic estate when they lived in the 100-room mansion. Lenfell Hall is handicap accessible and free shuttle service from FDU parking lots is available.

Tickets for this event are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, $10 students under 22 years of age and $20 for groups over 10.  Children under 12 years of age, accompanied by an adult, are admitted free.  Make check payable to Opera at Florham, P.O.
