2019 marks 45 years of the Millburn Co-op serving local families
The Millburn Cooperative Nursery School is enhancing its preschool by adding a private kindergarten for 5-year-olds beginning in Fall 2019, taking over the current Kinderenrichment program located at St. George’s Church in Maplewood. Kinderenrichment will offer a curriculum in line with the philosophy of the Millburn Co-op: one that emphasizes social and emotional development, and values making learning interactive, hands-on, and fun. Open to children who turn 5 by January 1st of the year of entry, Kinderenrichment is a bridge program for those who miss the kindergarten age cutoff or are looking for the opportunity to thrive in a smaller, more individualized setting.
“We are thrilled to offer Kinderenrichment starting this fall,” said Adrienne Topping, Director at The Millburn Co-op and Kinderenrichment. “The Millburn Co-op has cultivated a close-knit community and has sent many students to the current Kinderenrichment program run by head teacher Laurie Tyree. We are now excited to extend our unique preschool environment to an older age group. We look forward to inviting new families to experience what makes our program special.”
Known for being the little green schoolhouse in Taylor Park, the Millburn Co-op has established itself as a local leader in offering a play-based, child-led curriculum. For 45 years, the Millburn Co-op has served hundreds of local families, including many returning generations. Play-based early education has recently come to the forefront as studies have shown the importance of play in developing the minds of young children.
On any given day, you’ll find Co-op kids exploring a giant mud puddle (in water-proof gear), performing in a student-created play or collaging a self-portrait with recycled materials, while learning the social and emotional skills necessary to navigate being a part of a close-knit community.
Limited spots are still available at both Kinderenrichment and the Millburn Co-op Nursery School for the 2019/2020 school year. For more information visit www.millburncoop.org or call 973-379-2778.
