The Minutemen Sports Club kicked off the school year on Sept. 12 with a well-attended and productive meeting held in the West Morris Mendham High School lobby. The organization’s goals are to support all student athletes in the high school. They are well known for awarding athletic scholarships every year to graduating seniors, but they also are involved in purchasing championship banners and awarding senior plaques and trophies.
In addition the committee votes to award $500 to teams in need of additional funds to purchase such things as a new volleyball net to be used in the small gym for varsity practice and the purchase of Krossover video and game analytics for the girls’ basketball team.
The Spirit Coordinator, Joe Abramsky, also presented his ideas to the committee for a Mendham Rally Towel to be given out to students at each sporting event. His goal is to foster school spirit across all sports. The towel has been a huge success and were distributed at the white out game for the football team.
The meetings are held on once a month on the first Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the school lobby. They are open meetings and representatives from every sport are welcome.
