The Morris County Veteran Services Office is seeking volunteers to serve in the Morris County Ambassadors Program, offering assistance to military veterans who visit the county agency or the adjacent Veterans’ Administration clinic, both located in Morris Township.
The job of the Ambassadors would be to greet arriving veteran, make them comfortable, and escort them either on foot or using wheelchairs to the county office or the second floor veterans’ clinic, which are housed in the rears section of the Morris View Healthcare Center.
It also could include meeting veterans in the parking lot and helping them get in and out of the building.
Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday, mostly during clinic hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
It is not necessary to have a military background, though it could be helpful in assisting the veterans who visit the county offices and VA clinic. Volunteers must be able to do some walking and be able to push a person in a wheelchair.
