Just in time for Mother’s Day, Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum in Wayne will host its annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This year’s plant sale will feature a selection of high-quality annuals and perennials, container gardens, and beautiful hanging plants. There will also be Mother’s Day gifts for children to purchase. As always, there will be some special plants from the arboretum grown in the greenhouse from cuttings.
A special feature this year will be exhibit of student artwork from all Wayne Township public schools. These will be on display in the Knippenberg Center for Education during the hours of the plant sale.
Volunteer tour guides will be on hand to lead tours of the arboretum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Laurelwood will be ablaze with colors, textures and aromas as native dogwoods, oak leaf and climbing hydrangeas, hostas, daylilies, lilacs, irises and other plants flower in May.
Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum is the nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and maintaining Laurelwood in partnership with Wayne Township. All proceeds from the plant sale will help to support the park’s maintenance, operations and public programs.
Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum welcomes new members and encourages current members to rejoin for 2018 at the plant sale’s membership table. Members will get a 10 percent discount on purchase of plants. Annual household membership is $25 or $125 for a 5-year membership.
