On Fri., Jan. 15, Netcong Elementary School collaborated with The Growing Stage to provide the first annual Movie Night Fundraiser. Netcong School students, parents, and community members gathered at The Growing Stage in town to see “The Minions Movie.”
In the early planning stages of this fundraiser, Board Member Jennifer Santana had the idea to create a fundraiser during the winter months for Netcong School students. The most favored idea was to show a movie at the local theatre at a discounted price.
The Growing Stage Team helped make the event possible by donating the time, lights, sound and popcorn. Sam’s Club of Flanders donated six cases of water as well. Tickets were $3 or $10 per family. Water and popcorn were a $1 each.
Overall the Netcong School made more than $500 to help raise money for student activities. Middle School students volunteered to help sell the water/popcorn and clean up at the end of the night.
Santana said, “It was a great night getting to see the families of Netcong School come out and enjoy themselves. The theater was filled with laughter and a sense of community.”
