Students at Nixon Elementary School came together recently for their annual Jam Fest, raising money for a local student’s expensive cancer battle.
The students of Nixon’s Culture and Climate Committee and Early Act Committee led the school-wide celebration June 1. Students explained the importance of taking “just a minute” to be the best they can be for themselves and the people around them.
Students got together to sing and dance to Nixon’s theme song, appropriately named, “It Only Takes a Minute,” during the month of May.
The students were encouraged to bring in any spare change to support one of their very own students, Matt Adonis, who is fighting and winning a battle against cancer.
Together, the Nixon community raised a total of $429.48 to donate to the Adonis family.
