The Mount Olive Township Police Department announces that Patrol Officer Sean Smith, Badge #126, has been released from the Field Training Program and will assume full patrol duties. Chief Stephen Beecher stated “All Mount Olive Police Officers, once they graduate the police academy, must successfully complete the Field Training Program. The program generally lasts three months and rookie officers must successfully meet the five hundred and ninety seven (597) training objectives that cover a multitude of police activities, laws, policies and procedures.” Officer Smith’s Field Training Officer was Patrolman Andrew Spotts.
Officer Smith is a 2012 graduate of Roxbury High School. He attended the County College of Morris and West Virginia University; receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the latter in May of 2017.
Mayor Robert Greenbaum approved Officer Smith’s recommendation for hire on June 30, 2018. Officer Smith is a graduate of the 91 st Basic Police Class of the Morris County Police Academy. He graduated November 29, 2018.
Officer Smith is a resident of Roxbury. He is the son of retired Roxbury Police Detective Kevin Smith; and Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Melanie Smith.
