The top of Schooley’s Mountain, with a view that many live for, is a place to unwind and enjoy that scenery.
Now, enjoy that view while devouring a great burger and a great burger place, and you may feel like you’ve been transported to heaven.
That place is OMG Burger & Brew (141 Schooley’s Mountain Road, Long Valley, 908-867-7778,
www.omgburgerandbrew.com), housed in a beautiful new building with timber construction. Owned by Steve and Andrea Bussel, the same folks who own Long Valley Pub and Brewery, OMG Burger & Brew offers both national and local tap beers. OMG Burger & Brew is located directly across from Rock Spring Park, so a nice respite is available either before, during (think takeout), or after your meal.
OMG Burger & Brew calls home a custom-designed building featuring a high timbered ceiling and vintage panel fans. Concrete flooring and six-foot custom Sputnik chandeliers bring everything full circle for a modern touch. Enjoy a favorite beer, cocktail, or other favorite drink at the full-sized bar or enjoy the same over discussions beside the outdoor fire pits.
OMG Burger & Brew is unique in that, while it indeed offers delicious beef burgers, vegetarian needs and wants are not elbowed with regard to selection. Quite the contrary. Andrea Bussel is doing her best to make the menu very vegetarian friendly, and she is succeeding. There is no shortage of options to choose from. “The spring menu will have both the Impossible Burger (meat-free and made with sliced sharp cheddar, fried onions, boom-boom sauce and fire-roasted corn salsa on a Martin’s potato roll) and the Beyond Burger (the world’s first plant-based burger: meat-free, as well as gluten, soy, and GMOS- free, with protein from green peas and color from beet juice) as well as four house-made veggie burgers. One is the Green Monster, which is kale, peas, and broccoli; a quinoa burger, a red beans and rice burger, and a curry lentil burger.” Bussel also every month has a different burger of the month, and
so far, the Green Monster Veggie Burger has been the most popular. Another nifty menu option being introduced is the Beyond Sausage sandwich. “We also carry vegan cheese, gluten-free buns – I’m trying to cater to everybody.” Also available are super cod, crab cake, and savory chicken sandwiches, and much more – that “much more” extending well beyond the menu.
OMG Burger & Brew is a destination for all, and not just because taste isn’t neglected in the name of good health. It’s atmosphere, service, something for folks of all ages. “It’s perfect for everybody,” says Bussel. “I get young kids on a date, older couples on a date, retired people during the days, families at night, we get young people with kids…we get everybody.” Parties of all types and catering are available for your next get together.
Don’t be surprised to see another OMG Burger and Brew pop up in a nearby area soon.
