Open Air Pavilion Completed At Reservation

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr., third from left, announced that the construction of an open-air pavilion in Essex County South Mountain Reservation was completed on Thursday, Dec. 21. Cutting the ceremonial ribbon with the County Executive are, from left, Essex County Assistant Engineer Melinda Cortez, South Mountain Conservancy members William Weisz and Dennis Percher, Essex County Sheriff Deputy Chief Fitzgerald Figliuolo and Essex County Parks Director Dan Salvante. The steel and wooden structure is located along Crest Drive by the Washington Rock look out area. It is developed on the site of a former parking area and provides hikers and other park visitors with a place to rest, get out of the rain or find shade on a sunny day. It was funded with a grant from the NJ Green Acres program. Photo by Glen Frieson.
