Summer Concerts are held at the Gazebo on Memorial Oval on Robert Harp Drive every Sunday during the month of July from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The summer concerts are sponsored by Regal Bank, who have been sponsoring the concerts for over 10 years.
“We are very fortunate that Regal Bank (headquartered in Livingston) sponsors the shows,” says Liliana Branquinho, Township of Livingston Senior & Adult Enrichment and Special Events Supervisor. As for many people attend the weekly shows, she says, “It depends on the band. We can have anywhere from 300 to 500. The concerts are well received every year. Everybody is used to having the concerts on Sundays.”
Branquinho also adds that, In the event of rain or extreme heat, concerts are not canceled but moved indoors to the Livingston High School Auditorium. “We are fortunate to have a great relationship with our Board of Education and they absolutely are a great help during inclement weather.
This line-up for this year is as follows: 7/7 Epic Soul (performing classic soul and R&B plus Today’s hits);7/14 Joey Arminio & the Family – Oldies Show (50’s and 60’s music); 7/21 Route 80’s band (80s music); and 7/28 The B-Street Band (Bruce Springsteen’s tribute band).
“So many towns offer these concerts, but I think the gazebo provides the community a venue to come out and listen to some music, bring your kids, set down a blanket, have your friends there, and just listen to so music outdoors. It’s a summer tradition for many people, and it really brings the community together. People look forward to it, and I have to tell you that week after week I see a lot of the same people. No matter what the music is, a lot of the same people come out, different demographics, different age groups – they all come out to enjoy something together.”
