The Hackettstown Historical Society will present “A History of the Carriage Industry Hackettstown, New Jersey,’’ on Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hackettstown American Legion.
The presentation will be presented by Ray Lemasters, Hackettstown town historian.
The manufacture of horse-drawn vehicles was a vital Hackettstown industry that flourished during the 19 th and early 20 th centuries.
Following several years of research, Lemasters has published a book documenting the history of the industry. The presentation will focus on key events and the several former factories and ships that remain standing in Hackettstown. Books will be available for purchase.
