The Morris County Board of Freeholders have honored three new Eagle Scouts, one who is from Landing, for their community oriented scout projects, lauding the young men for their hard
work and positive community efforts.
The freeholders presented a certificate to Christian Saviano of Troop 188 in Landing.
Saviano graduated last week from Roxbury High School. He was among other scouts joined by family
members at the Eagle Scout ceremony, held at the Board of Freeholders June 22 meeting in
Morristown, to celebrate the positive achievements of these young county residents.
The freeholders praised the scouts for completing service projects that earned
them the Eagle Scout designation.
“We are honored to present certificates to these young men who have shown great community
spirit in completing projects that mean a great deal to their home communities,” said Freeholder Director Kathy DeFillippo. “They are a great
example to all of us and are, obviously, destined to be future leaders of our county and state.’’
Saviano’s project consisted of improving a several areas at the Roxbury Special
Services building and premises. He replaced an outdated post and rail fence, mulched garden
beds in the front of the building, painted two doors, and replaced a roof fixture on the rear of the
building. This project will make the building more appealing and enhances the structural
soundness of the entrance.
