Sharpened pencils, red apples, a new school year and new teachers. Each year teachers come and go and new crop of eager educators appear. This year is no different.
Roxbury Township Public Schools has welcomed 31 new, enthusiastic teachers to the district with a three-day New Teacher Orientation. This detailed beginning began Aug. 23, with an introduction to the Roxbury administrative team. New teachers were treated to a continental breakfast each day followed by various activities that included a technology overview, a virtual fieldtrip of Roxbury, a review of the teacher evaluation tool based on the Danielson Model, along with a Q&A with last year’s new teachers, and many other worthwhile activities.
The district’s Human Resources Director and New Teacher Orientation organizer, Maryann Gibbs explained, “The goals of New Teacher Orientation are all-encompassing. It facilitates the process of new teachers acclimating themselves to our district as well as fostering a sense of teamwork and collaboration among all. These three days are an exciting time for both new teachers and administrators. They signal the year is officially here! Thus, we begin the start of our journey to another successful school year!”
