After postponing last spring’s Roxbury Community Clean Up Day due to COVID-19, we are encouraging residents to help beautify our community on Saturday, October 24, 2020 beginning at 9:00 a.m., commencing at the DPW office located at 96 N. Dell Avenue, Kenvil, NJ (locations will be assigned).
“Under the reign of COVID-19 our voluntary spring cleanup was cancelled so litter has been accumulating and growing undisturbed throughout town and it’s starting to show” commented Kellie Ann Keyes, Clean Communities Coordinator
Our cleanup day is socially-distanced, self-guided volunteer opportunity for individuals, residents, businesses and groups to work together to help clean up parks, trails, woodlands, roadsides, neighborhoods and waterways.
The event is a great way to spend time outdoors, to pick up litter before it is covered with leaves and snow, stopping the debris from ending up in storm drains and waterways.
The day will start at 9:00 a.m. with *assignments and instructions. Assignments are given according to age and safety. Bags, gloves, vests, litter grabbers (while supplies last) and water to refill your re-useable water bottle will be provided. A free face covering will be offered (while supplies last). Most cleanups run for approximately two hours. *Travel may be necessary for certain locations assigned. Volunteers must sign a waiver to participate.
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to sign up for this event! Volunteer for Community Service hours! To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 973-448-2053 for additional information. Mini-grants available for nonprofit organizations (first come, first serve basis). Pre-registration is required.
Suggested areas for litter removal are also welcome.
**If this date doesn’t work with your schedule, alternate dates may be available.
