Senior Services Offered In Hanover

Hanover Township offers a variety of programs for seniors.

Current programs include Senior Fitness, with classes at the township of Hanover’s Community Center held every Tues. and Thurs. morning 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., Sept. through May. This class is one hour of mild exercise, stretching and toning for residents 60 years of age and older. The fee is $35. Call the Hanover Recreation Department office at 973-428-2463.

Blood Pressure Clinic is offered through the Township of Hanover Health Department with monthly blood pressure screenings every first Wed., Sept. through June, 11 a.m. to noon., in the lounge of the Township of Hanover Community Center in Whippany. All residents over the age of 18 years are welcome to attend, no appointment necessary.

Dial A Ride services to seniors and non-ambulatory disabled individuals is offered. Door to door service is available for medical appointments, food shopping; the second Thurs. of the month is a mall trip (except Jan.- April). Reservations are required 48 hours in advance by calling the Dial A Ride Office at 973-428-2498. Office hours are Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 973-428-2498 to schedule an appointment. Vehicle operation is Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Vehicle is handicapped accessible.

The Hanover Township Senior Club meets at noon on the first and third Wed. each month at the Hanover Township Community Center in Whippany. Some meetings may be offsite.
