The Randolph Board of Education selected Robert A. Soni to fill the unexpired term of former Board of Education member Al Matos.
Matos resigned last month because he moved out of Randolph.
Soni will take the oath of office at a future board meeting following a background check. He will serve on the board through early January.
Soni will also have the option to seek election to the remaining year of the seat in the November election.
Soni is the head of architecture and technology insertion at Bell Labs Access Labs at Nokia Bell Labs. The board interviewed Soni and two other candidates before selecting Soni at the board’s July 24 special meeting.
