A group of teens from SPARK Teen Ministry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Flanders embarked on a Mission Trip with Catholic HEART Workcamp during the week of July 8-13. Catholic HEART Workcamp is a unique Catholic mission designed specifically for high-school teens that began in 1993.
In its third year as part of their team, 15 teens, along with four adult leaders, traveled to Hartford, Conn., to serve the poor, build community and grow in faith.
During their week of service, the Mission Team served the people of Hartford and surrounding communities by working on home repair projects for the elderly and disabled, serving at homeless shelters and soup kitchens, and working on various outdoor projects with Trinita Retreat Center, Riverfront Recapture, and local farms. As evidenced by the gratitude of the community, these young people truly
made a difference.
In preparation for this trip, the team worked tirelessly at various fundraisers, raising more than $8,500 to fully fund the trip expenses. The team changed lives by sharing their faith, serving their neighbors, and echoing Jesus’ love.
