HACKETTSTOWN – Visitors to know Hackettstown, NJ, know the familiar scent of chocolate in the air when they pass Mars Wrigley Confectionery on High Street. On May 26, however, they’ll also hear the sounds of oldies’ music, along with pre-show car revving in the air when the Hackettstown Rotary Club presents it’s 25th Annual Memorial Motor Madness Car Show on the grounds of Mars Wrigley Confectionery at 800 High Street. The event is held rain or shine from 9 am to 3 pm, with gates opening to cars at 7:30 am.
Memorial Motor Madness features entries in 21 different classes that include Mustang, Firebird, Camaro, Antique (pre-1940 to 1970), Sports Car Foreign, Corvette, Muscle Car, Special Interest among others. Best of Show is chosen by people’s popular vote, with this year’s winner receiving the Ed Hagaman Memorial Trophy, named in honor of one of the show’s founders.
Special dash plaques are awarded to the first 400 entrants.
Laurie Rapisardi, car show co-chair, says the show, which can feature 500 vehicles on a good-weather day, will benefit the Foundation for Hackettstown Medical Center, including the Joan Knechel Cancer Center, as well as, other local charities supported by the Rotary Club. These include the NORWESCAP Food Bank, The Arc of Warren County, Big Brother/Big Sisters, Camp Merry Heart, DASACC of Warren County, and more.
Food vendors will be on hand t serve breakfast and lunch items, including breakfast sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, etc.
Other vendors will exhibit a variety of products and services for all.
Local DJ favorite Doc South will serve as emcee all day. During the afternoon, he will ask for a moment of silence for the country’s veterans and members in service before playing the National Anthem. Donations will be accepted for phone card purchase, to be given to service members stationed overseas so that they may call home.

Spectator admission is $5, with children age 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. No pets, alcohol or tobacco or smoking is allowed.
