THYROID & CAROTID ARTERY SCREENING

The Wayne Health Department and the Pompton Lakes Health Department are pleased to offer Thyroid & Carotid Artery Screenings on Tuesday, September 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Wayne Health Department, 475 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ 07470, and on Monday, October 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Pompton Lakes Municipal Building- 25 Lenox Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442

 

This quick and painless screening will use an ultrasound to evaluate the thyroid and carotid arteries. The fee for the screening is $30. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED. The carotid arteries are the two large blood vessels on each side of the neck that supply blood to the brain. When the carotid arteries become clogged with plaque, they become narrower, affecting blood flow. This screening is a significant tool to stroke prevention. The participant is given the results at the time of the screening to take to his/her physician.
