Alyssa Tanti and Victoria Cutalo are being considered for nomination for Best Female Identifying Lead Actress in a Musical by Paper Mill Playhouse’s Rising Star Program.

Tanti played Velma Kelly in “Chicago: High School Edition,” which was performed at Cedar Grove High School in March.

Cutalo played Roxie Hart in the musical.

The Rising Star Program is an awards program run by the Paper Mill Playhouse to recognize high school theater students throughout New Jersey for their talent, hard work, and accomplishments in their schools’ musical productions.

The Rising Star Program is modeled after Broadway’s Tony Awards.

The program also awards qualifying high school seniors with scholarships to study theater or technical theater in college.

The program is introducing the College Prep Mentoring Award in the future for rising juniors. Students who receive this award will receive mentorship and guidance on the college audition and application process from the head of the Paper Mill’s College Prep Program, Stephen Agosto.
