West Morris Central To Hold Inaugural Fencing Camp

West Morris Central Fencing to hold Inaugural Fencing Camp for Grades 6-12 July 25-29th at West Morris Central High School.
Interested in the sport of fencing but don’t know where to start? Need to brush up on fencing basics during the off season? Middle schoolers looking for a sport they haven’t tried that they could do in high school? Coaches Berardi and Orsi from the West Morris Central girls fencing team are offering a week long camp to be held in the West Morris Central High School Cafeteria, July 25-29 from 8 a.m. – noon. Open to boys and girls in grades six-12 with no experience required, the cost of the camp is $50 per person. Equipment will be provided.

Fencing basics including conditioning, footwork and the fundamentals of the weapons and bouting/competition will be covered. Guest coaches from local fencing clubs and current West Morris Fencing team members will be assisting during the camp. The week will culminate in a mini fencing tournament for participants where medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each weapon. Camp T-shirts are also included with the registration fee. The camp is a perfect low cost introduction to fencing or a great way to get in some off season conditioning.
