While many teens gravitate towards today’s pop hits, 17-year-old Brennan Scott from Denville, New Jersey, is drawn to the timeless sounds of Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Bublé. The rising high school senior, who began singing at age 3 in his father’s rock band, is taking his “old soul” to the heart of Times Square for a performance at the iconic Ellen’s Stardust Diner. He secured one of five spots to become a “Junior Starduster” for the day and sing LIVE at the iconic world-famous eatery on Tuesday, August 25. For almost 40 years, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, famous for its singing waitstaff – the Stardusters, has long been a recognized launchpad for Broadway talent, with many alumni going on to perform in hit Broadway, Off Broadway and TV. Out of over 300 submissions in less than 24 hours from kids all around the U.S. (and beyond), Brennan was selected as one of 30 finalists to audition live at the diner on July 21. He performed the 1959 hit song “Dream Lover” by Bobby Darin for the judging panel, which included Broadway stars Nick Barrington, Gilbert L. Bailey II, Lisa Howard, Bailey McCall and vocal and theater artist Katy Wolfe. In addition to having the opportunity to perform at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, the five winners received scholarships to the Broadway Education Alliance’s Camp Broadway 2027.

Brennan’s performance on August 25th will be on the same day as Kids’ Night on Broadway, which is a program of The Broadway League. It’s designed to introduce young people to the magic of live theatre and make Broadway accessible to a new generation of theatergoers. Kids aged 18 and under get to see a participating Broadway show for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult.

Singing in his father’s band inspired Brennan to audition for his school’s talent show in sixth grade, igniting a passion that’s never faded. Since then, he has appeared in American Idiot and Newsies, with hopes to study musical theater in college next year.
