The Academy for Environmental Science of the Morris County Vocational School District will host its annual Ecofest on May 4 from 6-8 pm at the Jefferson Township High School, where the Academy is located. The event will be held in the high school cafeteria, 1010 Weldon Rd, Oak Ridge.

Ecofest 2022 is open to the public.

The evening will be a celebration of the plastic bag ban that will go into effect in New Jersey on that same day. Stations will be hosted by students, as well as community members, highlighting sustainable living, recycling basics, hydroponic farming, climate victory gardens and student research to name a few.

The environmentally friendly make and take activities are sure to please the entire family. Everyone will go away inspired with great ideas and products for living a more sustainable life!

Also, the Jefferson Township Class of 2025 will be hosting a pop-up thrift store at the event. Shopping at thrift shops gives a new home to someone else’s clothes that would have otherwise gone to fill up landfills. All proceeds will go to the Class of 2025 Class Activities. Clothing donations not sold will be donated locally.

The Morris County Vocational School District (MCVSD) offers Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for Morris County high school students. The academies are public programs of choice for Morris County residents. Students apply to an academy program during the fall of their 8th-grade year. The Academy for Environmental Science, located at Jefferson Twp High School, provides students with the interdisciplinary study of natural processes and human impacts in the atmosphere, aquatic systems, and soils. The academy program of study links the principles of art, history, language arts, technology, biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics to environmental concepts.
