Academy for Performing Arts Dance Students Honored

Three of Morris County Vocational School District’s Academy for Performing Arts Dance students were honored with prestigious dance awards.

 

Fiona Quirk of Morristown received the National Honor Society for Dance Arts through National Dance Education Organization: Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award on the State Level. Additionally, Fiona received the Student Award for Artistic Excellence and Leadership in Dance as part of the New Jersey Governor’s Awards in Arts Education.

 

Cailey Scholts of Randolph received the National Honor Society for Dance Arts through National Dance Education Organization: Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award on the State Level.

 

Kylie Blake of Jefferson received the Student Award for Artistic Excellence and Leadership in Dance as part of the New Jersey Governor’s Awards in Arts Education.

 

Dance New Jersey will be providing award recipients with the opportunity to be a part of a virtual Show Up & Dance: Outside in June 2021; a one-year free student membership to Dance NJ; an award certificate from Dance NJ; and a Dance NJ t-shirt.

 

The New Jersey Governor’s Awards in Arts Education is holding the Virtual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 22, 2021.  Awarded students will work with dance educator and Dance NJ Board Member Claudine Ranieri to create the virtual dance performances for the program.

 

Both sets of awards involved students creating their own solos, resumes, and essay responses followed by strong academics, leadership qualities, and a nomination recommendation letter.
