Babysitting Skills, Infant Care To Be Taught In Mendham

Young people in Mendham Township can learn the skills they’ll need to be a good babysitter when the Smart Sitter program takes off in November.
The program, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mendham Township Municipal Building, Brookside, on Nov. 4, is a hands-on, safety based babysitter training program designed to teach young people, ages 11-16, the many skills of becoming a babysitter. The cost is $60.
Smart Sitters’ extensive curriculum, taught by registered nurses, covers the care of infants through school-age children.  Diapering, feeding, playtime activities, basic first aid, handling choking emergencies, fire safety and prevention, the business of baby-sitting and safety for the sitter are all taught. Participants will receive a Smart Sitter manual, complete with family emergency forms, plus a Smart Sitter certificate upon completion.
