On Oct. 22, Long Valley Boy Scout Troop 236 visited Antietam Battlefield in Maryland. They camped under a full moon on the battlefield itself, hiked twelve miles, and completed the historic Antietam Battlefield Trail guide. The scouts and leaders learned a great deal about the single bloodiest day in American history, gaining a new appreciation for the sacrifices made by ancestors to preserve the freedoms all citizens enjoy today.
