Council Seeks Help Farming For The Needy

The National Council of Jewish Women, Morris County Section, is seeking volunteers to harvest farm-fresh produce for the needy on Sept. 10 from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

The work will be done at one of America’s Grow-a-Row  locations in Hunterdon County. All produce harvested on Sept. 10 will be given to those in need. This event is free and open to everyone.

AGAR produce is delivered throughout the state of New Jersey to food banks, food pantries, soup kitchens, Free Farm Market programs, faith-based pantries and more. If there is a need for fresh, healthy produce, AGAR does its best to meet that need. Among the recipients of the food harvested at AGAR are the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County, the Community Food Bank and the Morristown Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center.

The farm is in beautiful area and while what is available for picking varies, the range could be apples, peppers, green beans, cabbage, corn and more. To sign up and for details about the location, email melanielevitan@gmail.com. Carpools are being arranged.
