On a sunny, crisp fall morning, the students and staff of Franklin Elementary School honored the nation’s veterans in a special flag raising ceremony and presentation in front of the school. Many of the dozen or more honored veterans had a direct connection to a student in the school.
Girl Scout Troop 6055 and Cub Scout Pack 54 presented and helped raise the flag on Friday morning in the presence of parents and special honored guests.
Eighteen students from kindergarten through fourth grade shared different readings in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Throughout the half hour presentation, all in attendance participated in the flag salute and the singing of the National Anthem and God Bless America under the direction of Sarah Hunter, vocal music teacher and Maria DiAgostino, fourth-grade teacher.
Students were invited up to join their special veteran as they were asked to introduce themselves along with their names, branches of service, and their time in the service.
