Franklin School Stuffs Bus For Social Services

Franklin Elementary School in Succasunna stuffed its first bus full of unwrapped toys for children of all ages for Roxbury Social Services last month.

Students brought in toys throughout the week leading up to the event, then volunteers spearheaded by Gail LaCosta, the school counselor worked on stuffing the bus as more toys were delivered by members of the community.

Different groups and individuals helped make this event a success.

“We would like to give huge thank you to the Roxbury Transportation Department, Roxbury Social Services, the Roxbury High School Competition Cheerleaders, and the Franklin Elementary School staff and PTA for helping us organize and run this event,” shared LaCosta.

The holiday season isn’t just about receiving gifts.

“I hope our students take away the importance of giving back to their community and the joy associated with helping others.”

Roxbury Social Services assists low-income working families, seniors and people with disabilities living on fixed incomes. This organization exists solely on the generous donations from individuals and local businesses. Many individuals and families in Roxbury Township rely on Social Services and donations are welcome all year-round.
