Free bone density screenings will be held by given by Washington Township Recreation Department Oct. 20 in the Township Senior Center.
A bone density test detects osteoporosis– a disease that causes bones to become more fragile and more likely to break. In the past, osteoporosis could be detected only after breaking a bone.
The bone density screening will begin with a short discussion by staff members from the Village Family Clinic on how important it is to have healthy bones. There will be an individualized five-minute screening for each person. All it takes is to place one’s foot on a surface and screening results will automatically be printed out.
Call the Recreation Department by Oct. 16 at 908-876-5941, or email recreation@wtmorris.net to register.
